The striking scents of Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, and Tuberose lend a sweet, seductive and feminine touch to the middle notes and uplift senses. What I liked less was its whole concept, from a name pilfered from Jean Patou to the core idea. Selecting a star rating for Joy turned out to be challenge. It’s a solid 3 star perfume as far as technique, but as far as originality, it fails massively.While the original, "classic" Joy bottle — so familiar to us today, was designed by Art Déco architest and bottle designer, Louis Süe, Jean Patou himself put his hand to bottle design and, in 1932, produced the alternate Joy bottle shown at the far right.I love Joy on summer nights. It smells like a sweet Jasmine vine overhead, climbing in the pergola and opening in the dark. Joy feels like a soprano holding the high note so beautifully you swoon. Joy is sweet, strong and almost sharp green but it doesn't hurt.
